This particular talk, touches on a problem that is at an almost epidemic proportion, which is the on and off insomnia, that, I, myself, and almost 80% experience.
At it's simplest, the suggestions you both made, that we need to be conscious of our bodies, and how we are not relaxed, along with an almost non-stop series of thoughts, that dominate our time.
Trying to sleep seems to make it worse, since we become even more self-conscious of our problem, only feeding it further.
I agree, with your suggestion, that works for me also, is reading a book, by a chosen spiritual sage, which re-tunes our awareness away from the non-essential issues that, as you say, makes us space out!
It's, as you say, all in what we're doing, and being afraid of being silent, hiding the pain, we keep from ourselves, and others.

Tom, I noticed that when I try to apply spiritual truths I seem to not be spontaneous. Is that "trying to be spiritual" as you say in this podcast? What is the solution? (Wilma)
